NY State offers internet defensive driving course
Drivers who dread sitting through a 6 hour-long defensive driving classroom course may be excited to hear about a new option approved by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. The course, is now being offered online!
The Internet Point and Insurance Reduction course (IPIRP) will teach the same material covered in the traditional classroom version, but doesn’t need to be completed in one sitting. Students can log on and off, taking the course at their own pace. Topics include traffic and vehicle law, traffic safety and defensive driving. So now you can take the class from the comfort of your own home while sipping coffee in your PJs.
As with the classroom course, drivers who complete the online course will receive a 10% reduction in their base rate auto insurance premium for three years. Drivers who receive a traffic ticket can take the course up to 18 months afterwards and remove 4 traffic violation penalty points from their driving record.
Annie On The Go will also present this program at your worksite, school or church location the same as we offer our CPR programs. Minimum group size of 10. Cost per person $35
The DMV is automatically notified once the six-hour online course is completed, but it is the student’s responsibility to notify his or her insurance company within 90 days of receiving their course completion certificate in order to receive the discount or point reduction.
